What are the ten Sefirot ( סְפִירוֹת) ? Sefirot is a plural word meaning emanations or that source or origin. The Ten Sefirot are one of the most important aspects of Kabbalah which is Jewish mysticism and make up the aspects of the Tree of Life and in some ways out line the personality attributes of the Divine.I am not though a Kabbalah teacher or an expert on Kabbalah and this article is not about traditional Jewish Kabbalah.Nor am I saying the true believers in Jesus the Messiah should study Kabbalah because Kabbalah is useful in giving better understanding to a religion that does not yet have Messiah because the Ten Sefirot are all about the attributes of Messiah. So we as followers of the Messiah do not need Kabbalah. This article is about Jesus/Yeshua and the Ten Sefirot and not Kabbalah!
Lets get started:1.Keter/Crown/כתר
Can we agree based on obvious scripture that Jesus has the highest crown,as it is written he will rule the world with an iron scepter and every knee will bow to him.Don’t forget the crown of thorns on the stake he bore!
2.Chokhmah/wisdom/חכמה
Can it be agreed and likely even by atheists and pagans that Jesus was wise,no dispute here!
3.Binah/understanding/בינה
Jesus had understanding,he understood us and how hard the flesh is but he also understood his Father and the importance of being Holy and Jesus understood just how to temper justice and mercy.
4.Da’at/Knowledge/דעת
We have here from John 1:1
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(NIV version)
Not only did Jesus have knowledge but he was knowledge.
5.Chesed/Kindness,love,grace annd compassion/חסד
Here is Ephesians 1:3-7 NIV
3 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace”
Ephesians 2:8-9
” 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast” 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast”
We know John 3:16 that Jesus died because he so loved the world,Jesus had Chesed!
6.G’vurah/strength,bravery/גבורה
We know Jesus resisted satan in the desert and Jesus languished on the cross for us and still rose from the dead ,so yes Jesus had g’vurah, strength, courage!
7.Tiferet/Glory,slendor/תפארת
Philippians 2:9-11New International Version
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
8.Netzach/Eternity/נצח
Just reading the New Testament I think we can agree Jesus is eternal and gives us eternity ie.. John 3:16
9.Chod/Splendor /חוד
He was born of a virgin, walked on water, fed 5000 with a few loaves of bread and some fish and even Pontius Pilate could not find fault with him and even the grave itself could not hold him and to the right hand of the Lord he ascended.
10.Yesod/Foundation/יסוד
Revelation 13:8 NIV
8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation (foundation) of the world.[b]
Corinthians 3:11
11 “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. “
Jesus is also the basic foundation of salvation as well.
Finally .Malkhut/Kingdom/מלכות
It says Ten Sefirot but really it is 11 because Keter and Da’at are considered two within one .But Jesus has a Kingdom for a 1000 reign and an eternal reign in the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21 )
These are the attributes of God from a Christian/Messianic perspective and it is important to remember that even if we don’t embrace Kabbalah to not throw the baby out with the bath water. These divine attributes shed light of the personality and nature of our Messiah who has his Keter and will have his Malkhut and the Chesed he feels and gave for us.
