A couple of scriptures with history predicted in advance.

A big thing in history is the discovery that the world is round and of coarse many believe Christopher Columbus discovered this.This is not so actually because almost all educated people in the time of Columbus (the 15th century ce) knew the earth was round.So when was it first proved that the world was round?

This can be easily looked up and I think Wikipedia says something to this effect.This was AI generated search but it’s solid information.It was known that the earth was a sphere in the 400’s bce But what does the Bible say on this issue.

Isaiah 40.22

כבהַיּשֵׁב֙ עַל־ח֣וּג הָאָ֔רֶץ וְיֹֽשְׁבֶ֖יהָ כַּֽחֲגָבִ֑ים הַנּוֹטֶ֚ה כַדֹּק֙ שָׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּמְתָּחֵ֥ם כָּאֹ֖הֶל לָשָֽׁבֶת:

“It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heaven like a curtain, and He spread them out like a tent to dwell.”

Here is a reference in Isaiah written in the 8th century bce 3 centuries before the Greeks made their discovery.The word Chug/ח֣וּג used for circle checks out as correct also.Of coarse sceptics deny Yeshayahu or Isaiah wrote the entire book but I never heard a substantial late date on Isaiah either way.Sceptics say Daniel was written not in the 6th century bce but in the second century bce(which I do not believe personally).No late date has ever been purposed for Isaiah that I have ever heard of.So the Bible did indeed revealed the world is round first by a few centuries before anyone else.Even if we instead put Isaiah in the Babylonian exile period it still beats the Greeks by 100 years.

Next we have a section from Obadiah 1.20 and we will not go deep into the theological meaning but the historical meaning.

²⁰ “This company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan
    will possess the land as far as Zarephath;
the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad
    will possess the towns of the Negev.”

Not to mention the predicting of the return of Israel but what grabs my interest here is the word “Sepharad” which is Hebrew for Spain or at least the Iberian peninsula in general.It is known in history that the Jews for many many centuries lived in Spain from the early medieval period until the inquisition and final expulsion in 1492.

I think think history is an issue here because it is known to all that Obadiah was composed no later than the 2nd century bce(It is believed Obadiah lived in the 9th century bce).And there was not substantial Jewish populations in Spain or Iberia until the first century ce at the very earliest.The true diaspora in huge numbers did not start until after the Bar Kokhva revolt in 136 ce.So for the Bible to have known about Jews in Spain is history predicted in advance and clear divine revelation.
