Was and is Hebrew the original language of creation ?

First let me say that yes Hebrew is the Holy tongue because on Mt Sinai God gave his first revelation to humankind in the Torah. The Torah is the earliest part of the also called the 5 books of Moses or the Chumash (meaning of 5)

The Torah consists of Genesis,Exodus,Leviticus,Numbers and Deuteronomy. So yes Hebrew is a Holy language but was is the language of heaven and the language of Adam and Eve before the Tower of Babel incident?

Many people believe Hebrew or more precisely “pre Biblical Hebrew” (there are different Hebrew dialects) was the first language.I can not say for sure honestly one way or another really but we will investigate.

Come ,we will descend and confuse there ,their language and no man will hear the language of his neighbor.

Genesis 11:7 New International Version

Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

It is clear that God confused the languages so no man could understand what I believe means people outside of their tribe or clan. This is clear to me because if no man could understand any other man then nations could not have formed after.

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

Here is Deuteronomy 32.8-9

“When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance,
    when he divided all mankind,
he set up boundaries for the peoples
according to the number of the sons of Israel.”

it is clear that God made nations ,so after Babel Tribes and Clans could understand each other and that God initially made 70 nations and languages to start.

Nothing in the Torah or Genesis or Deuteronomy says that one original language survived the great language catastrophe,it said God confused the language using the Hebrew word bavel babel meaning confused or confusion.

If an original language survived the great confusion then all men could have spoken in said language. And in my analysis of the original text it is clear that man could not understand man. This means the Adamic/Noachian language died at the Tower of Babel otherwise people could have used that to communicate which scripture makes clear they could not understand each other. So can we conclude the Adamic/Noachian language which in other articles I labeled Proto Emegir (proto sumerian).

This language likely had similarities to pre Biblical Hebrew but not the same, the language of the clan of Shem would have been similar to pre Biblical Hebrew and Shem was Noah’s son. There are some similarities from ancient Hebrew to Summerian ,like the three letter root verbs and such.Summerian or Emegir would evolve in Akkadian which is a lot like Aramaic which is a lot like both Hebrew and Arabic. However the Adamic and Noachian language was pre ancient Summerian or Emegir. But also we must remember that just after Babel the languages would have been much closer than today ,so that is no surprise and that that man could not understand each other makes it clear that Proto Summerian or Emegir was lost and that dialects turned into languages and Clans into Nations! For example that the sub dialects clans of Shem,Japheth and Cham evolved into different languages the same way from latin came Italian,Spanish and French etc.. or from Germanic came German,Dutch,English,Danish and Swedish etc…

I am going to say no, pre biblical Hebrew was not spoken by Adam and Eve although the language would have have things in common much more so than modern English to Old English (Saxon)

Hebrew is still a holy language because it was the language of the Gods first written communication with humankind but I do not believe it in the form we know was spoken by Adam and Eve and Cain and so on.I think the Adamic language would be very similar to ancient Summerian (Emegir) which is why in other articles called the Proto Babel language Proto Emegir.

Is Aramaic a holy language? Some parts of Daniel,Ezra and even Jeremiah were written in it and Isaac married Rivkah or Rebbecca who was a Aramean and so ancient Syrians are in the Hebrew genetic pool. For the most part the Jews picked Aramaic in the Babylonian exile and if not for that the targums and the Talmud would never have been in Aramaic. However Summerian although linguists deny this fact was in Aramaic or at least the south eastern variety spoken in Babylon. This is because the Biblical people of Babylon came from Akkadians who picked up Cuneiform from Sumerians. The Babylonians or Chaldeans got Aramaic from the Assyrians who lived further north in what is modern Iraq.Summer was far southern Iraq and Akkad was central Iraq, Assyria was northeastern Iraq and the Arameans were western Iraq ,modern Syria and Lebanon. As opposed to Hebrew Aramaic was far from exclusively a Biblical language. It was Phoenicians or modern Lebonese that first invented a phonetic Alpha Bet that used word combos and sounds to communicate. This Alpha bet was adopted by the Hebrew in about the year 1200-1000 bce and also Aramaic speaker used this Alpha Bet also and the Greeks also took the Phoenician Alpha Bet too.The Greeks added vowels to this Alpha Bet also which no one had ever done.

The first writings systems ,Sumerian Cuneiform and Egyptian hieroglyphics were pictographic not phonetic meaning they used symbols not words.Hebrew did not have it’s own script until after the Babylonian exile and that is where the modern square Hebrew script came from.Hebrew first used Proto Sinaitic script a variant of Egyptian hieroglyphics also used by the Canaanites around 1400 bce. Then around 1200-1000 bce the Israelites adopted the Phoenician script for the next 600 or so years.

If Hebrew was the Adamic language I’d suspect they would have had a writing system going back that far but the Israelites seemed to be illiterate until after the Exodus from Egypt. The oldest known Hebrew writting uses the Proto Sinaitic or also sometimes called Proto Canaanite (although the two seem to vary slightly)

I think we have covered the subject and although it’s an unknowable question I think the evidence points toward no Adamic language surviving the Tower of Babel hence to language known today was the Adamic language.

Thank you and God Bless !
