Another look at science and Genesis

I think we have talked before about science and Genesis but I wanted to have anothe discussion on this topic.Today I want to go into big picture thinking and I think where people get caught up in the Bible vs science debate is excessive attention to detail ,often details unproved also.Today I want and overview and a different perspective on this that I do not believe has been brought to light.

Another criticism I will get is comparing Genesis with science and this is controversial but I believe the greatest statement of faith is that in the end science will prove the Bible right and actually is it more and more and more.I personally have no issue comparing the Bible to science and what I have found is that they have no conflict if you look at it from say a glass is half full perspective then focusing on every minute detail where there is a conflict.

So let us begin with Genesis 1.1-3 NIV

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

³ And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Is this inconsistant with science and by the way science used to say the universe had no begining but now science says the universe had a begining wich backs up the Biblical account.So first matter and energy are disorganized and concentrated in one place in an emty state.And of coarse science and the Bible disagree on why the big bang happened both say a big bang happened.Science says it happened when matter in one place became to dense and started to expand rapidly,we believe it is because God coomanded lights existence and hence light existed(let there be light or yehi Or)

You may not know this but the first person to suggest a big bang was was a Roman Catholic priest named Geoges Lemaitre.

In any case there is no dispute that from emptiness and chaos came a vast expansion of space and time!

My argument is less that this proves absolutely that the Bible is right and modern science is wrong,not my point,we believe in the Bible,God and Messiah on our faith.This is more that if any man tells you that modern science disproves God ,tell them they are wrong for modern science backs up the Bible.Are we on the same page ,both the Bible and science says there first was a period of chaos and then a massive expansion of space and time.

Now lets deal with the theory of evolution ,evolution theory says that life first came from water and only after life came to water did land mammals come about.So let us look at Genesis 1.20

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יִשְׁרְצ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם שֶׁ֖רֶץ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֑ה וְעוֹף֙ יְעוֹפֵ֣ף עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ עַל־פְּנֵ֖י רְקִ֥יעַ הַשָּׁמָֽיִם:

And God said may the waters run with living creatures and birds that will fly upon the earth and upon the face of the heavens.

So here the first creation of living creatures are from the waters and birds to are created here also and by the way in modern science birds are not connected to the so called chain of events of sea bacteria evolving into fish,then whales and then land mammals.Birds came about differently ,some scientists say they came from dinosaurs.No dispute that the first life was sea life.

Here is Genesis 1.21

וַיִּבְרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת־הַתַּנִּינִ֖ם הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים וְאֵ֣ת כָּל־נֶ֣פֶשׁ הַֽחַיָּ֣ה | הָֽרֹמֶ֡שֶׂת אֲשֶׁר֩ שָֽׁרְצ֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם לְמִֽינֵהֶ֗ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־ע֤וֹף כָּנָף֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־טֽוֹב:

And God created the great monsters(often translated as sea monsters)and all living creatures that creep in which the waters run(swarm)according to their kind.And all winged birds according to their kind anf God saw that it was good.

This word “taninim”תַּנִּינִ֖ם is often translated as sea monster however the text simply says monster(in modern Hebrew crocodile).It is certainly possible the taninim could have been whales or could have been dinosaurs and the dinosaurs were destroyed in the flood or the taninim could be both whales and dinosaurs.

Here is Genesis 1.24-27 and day 6 of creation

²⁴ And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. ²⁵ God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

²⁶ Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,^[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

²⁷ So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.

There we go ,large land mammals come after sea life and birds and human being come last.Is there any argument left that could say modern science disproves the Bible,I do not think so.And remember do not be conned into thinking the universe is 13.8 billion years old,the speed of light is slowing down and the speed of light was 10,000 times faster in the time of Noah. So that throws of the whole nature of time because the SOL and time are intrinsically related.

My final thought is that in time science will catch up and more and more of the Biblical account will be proven true.We must remember that science and creationists really only disagree on fine details which are not even really proven on sciences part but on the major facts of science and biology and physics the Bible is clearly on point.
